Venice of the north is what Bruges is called. Many will consider this beautiful city as one of the finest of the world.
But what makes this city so special?
Bruges or "Brugge" as it is in dutch means Bridge. And that is what Bruges is all about.
Bruges was during the middle ages one of the most important cities of the world due to its connection with the sea. Nowadays we still see the medieval heart of this city. The Unesco has placed the entire inner city of Bruges on its list of world heritage.
Bruges is a warm charming city which is particularly beautiful during wintertime. It is quiet and most peacefull. Bruges has one of the best preserved building of the middle ages in the world and is one of the places you should visit in your life.
Hotels in Bruges are as numerous as canals. The amount of small familyhotels greatly outnumbers the bigger hotels and certainly adds to the charm of Bruges. A visit to Bruges starts with finding a beautiful hotel in Bruges to stay. I personally would prefer to stay in a small familyhotel right in the center of Bruges.
Sometimes visitors prefer to stay in a hotel in Brussels while they visit Belgium or even some stay in hotels in Antwerp but I personally believe your stay in Belgium will be a lot more interesting if you stay in Bruges.
The coastal Region aswell as Brussels, Antwerp or Ghent are easily visited from your hotel in Bruges. But at night Bruges is farout the most beatiful and most quiet city of them all.
During my stay I visited a few hotels and these are the ones I think are most worth a visit.
Have fun in Bruges and let me know how you enjoyed it.
